Last Minute change on Orphan Costumes!!
I know I told many of you darling Orphans that you would be wearing your boots in the final scene... CHANGE OF PLANS. We need you in black dress flats or Black Mary Janes with ankle socks. An awesome mom informed me that KMart has black Mary Janes half-price, for $5.

Baskets! (Entire Cast K - 6)
Please bring a small laundry basket with your child ASAP! Please label the basket with your child's name. We will be storing their costumes in these baskets for rehearsals and performances. Also please label your child's clothing and shoes with their name.

Common Costume Questions Answered!
Q: What is a costume check?
A: It's a deadline- a day where you bring your required costume pieces to school and show them to the Costumer to get them approved and checked off. You don't have to wear them to school, but you MUST bring the pieces to show me to get credit for them.
Q: When is my costume check?
A: If you're an orphan, it was today for the orphanage costumes. I talked to those of you who are missing things. Please remember to have them by Monday!
K-2: YOUR NYC COSTUME CHECK IS APRIL 10. NYC COSTUME DEADLINE IS APRIL 12!
SERVANTS: YOUR COSTUME CHECK IS YOUR NEXT REHEARSAL. Watch the blog for that date.
Q: Where do I get this stuff?
A: Everywhere! Borrow something, Recycle (ie. spray paint shoes, make a vest out of an old jacket, cut something to make it work, etc), go to DI or thrift stores. Try different things. Some things in the right or wrong context can change a look completely. If you are at a complete loss, email me! I can help!
Q: What do I need to get?
A: That depends! Check the prior posting on the blog. If you are not listed, talk to me at practice. Some of you have more to get than others.
Q: Ok, but what are you really looking for?
A: If you are a K-2 New Yorker, your costume is basically up to you. We have a few hats, scarves, gloves and details to blend and balance, but for the most part, you put together a character and a costume appropriate to 1930's NYC. Please stay within these guidelines: SOLID colors. Something you'd wear in December. Something that would have existed in 1930 (ie, no velcro, no converse) and something that looks good on you! Please also check the pictures from the earlier post and lean toward that.
If you are a servant girl: you need a black dress. It MUST have sleeves, either short sleeves or 3/4 length and it MUST come below your knee. A fitted black t-shirt and black skirt will most likely work, but bring it sooner rather than later for checking. No sparkles or color details. I only have a few servants who have checked in with me. Great job, you three! Servant girls also need black shoes. Flats are ok, and simple is better.
Servant Boys: You need white shirts, black shoes and black pants. Drake is a butler, and Porter is a chauffeur. Try and see if you can get black bow ties.

Specifics: Bundles: You need a white shirt and light colored pants and a belt.
Lt. Ward: Hunting for a blue suit... black boots.
Newsie: golf knickers (solid color), henley long-sleeved shirt, long socks that come up to your knee. Boots.
Usherette: Black pants, white dress shirt (looking for a pillbox hat) black shoes.
FDR: Please bring a white shirt. Black shoes.
Child 1/Child 2 (in NYC) Please see me at rehearsal.
IF YOU ARE NOT MENTIONED here, it is because I have stuff for you or am working with you directly already.
